DK Haas was 40 years old when she started making art and she’s been working feverishly as if trying to make up for lost time ever since. Her subjects vary with obsessed randomness. She fixates on something and paint it until a new subject draws her attention. Lately she’s been preoccupied with abstract painting using oil paint and cold wax medium. She is completely out of my element and both enjoy and feel maddened by the unknown territory and delightful curiosity that is evoked when she’s doing something new. DK’s challenge is to trust the process of art making, a thing that keeps her balanced and connected. Her studio is located at 1890 Bryant Street Studios and she encourages you to visit during spring or fall Open Studios.
